Add column to view when working with nlog

Nov 1, 2015 at 9:11 AM
I am working with nlog and sentnel
I am sending the log over udp from several machines
i want ti identufy the sending machine

What is the best way to do that?

I would write a wrapper (derived class) for nLog and add a machine id to it. Then with each write to nlog I would insert the machine id into the message.

That information is already in the meta-data. Just need to tweak the code to show the column. I'll quickly do that - longer term I want columns to be something you can add yourself.

Pushed some code onto the develop branch that does this. Need to test a little more, will publish new version tomorrow.

Good news, it is already included (I forget which version introduced it).

Take a look on the "Show Columns" section of the ribbon bar, you should see "Source Host" option. This will show/hide the column that is populated with the originating source machine name by nLog.
