Exceptiondetails missing?

description

Hi,

is it possible to show the exceptiondetails of an error?
I'm using either logger.Error(Exception, string) or logger.Log(LogLevel, string) to log the exceptions, but none of these methods will show up any exceptiondetails in sentinel.
  • I'm using NLog Version 4.3.4
  • The exception column is activated
Greetings

I've done some research on my own and I found out that you've probably just forgotten to show up the exceptions panel in Sentinel.Views.Gui.LogMessagesControl Line 171?

Or do I get something wrong with your code?

Greetings

Actually, the problem seems to be that using an NLogView, nLog itself does not sent the exception in the log4j:event message. It might be that another configuration of nLog can be used, but I haven't successfully managed to find a configuration that includes it (albeit, I haven't crawled through all of their settings either).

If you can help, I'd be glad to make sure Sentinel copes with it..

I have done a little more investigation and discovered my test app was not correctly passing the exception, so I have now added functionality for the decoding of the exception within nLog.

The functionality to show the exceptions panel is, as you not in place yet - there are no exception panels. For now I propose to change the behaviour of the exceptions column to show the value instead.

Source code will be updated, but I'm working on major changes on another branch, so I might not release this quickly.

No Problem, I'm fine with your develop-branch
(Works like a charm)

Greetings :-)
